About Us

So............you’re thinking of embarking on renovations or building a new home. Where do you start? You will need to call in a design expert, but which one do you choose? Architects, Building Designers & Draftspeople are all capable of putting your house plans on paper and submitting them to Council. Whoever you engage, it’s best to closely examine your needs in order to find an option that suits you best.

Originally established in Belgrave in 1978 by two local Architects to meet the residential design and drafting needs of the Dandenong Ranges, the current Director, Rosemarie Hazard, took over the reins in 1984. Belgraphik Building Design has steadily grown over the years to become a well-respected design studio, providing quality design and documentation for developments throughout metropolitan and country areas of Victoria as well as Interstate. Residential projects range from luxury homes on country properties, urban & coastal residences, through to sustainable alternative designed homes using more unusual building materials. Sympathetic additions and renovations to existing homes make up a large portion of our workload. Being a member of the BDAV ensures that we are constantly being updated with the latest Industry Issues, Trends and Regulations.

Rosemarie Hazard Director/Senior Design Consultant

Rosemarie has building and design in her blood; her father was a builder as was her father’s father & her mother’s father! After studying Building Design (Architectural Drafting), she commenced her career at Belgraphik in 1981 & then went on to purchase the business in 1984.

She has a passion and flair for designing homes that are functional yet blend with the environment.  Light filled rooms are top of the agenda, particularly in the hills, where clients often complain of dark rooms. Good listening skills have allowed her create plans that are tailor made for particular clients, many returning again for their next home.

From a personal building perspective, she has relocated and renovated a 1913 period style home as an Owner Builder with her husband (who does not have a building background). Had a habitable barn and stables built to lock up and finished works to completion, and has had her own custom designed stone & colorbond home built by a local builder in  the Emerald area. After more than 30 years in the industry, there have been plenty of different design styles and materials come and go, but that makes it all the more interesting.
